Sustainable Eden Prairie is an ongoing effort focusing on education and implementation of sustainable practices to protect the environment and natural resources our community enjoys.
Building upon the success of the 20-40-15 initiative, the City is leading by example and providing a foundation for residents and businesses to carry out sustainable practices in four areas — energy, landscape, waste and water.

Help Manage EAB in Eden Prairie
Since Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was confirmed in Minnesota in 2009, the City of Eden Prairie has been participating in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) early detection program to help slow the spread of the insect.
EAB was first discovered in northeast Eden Prairie in April 2017. Like most Minnesota cities, Eden Prairie has an abundance of ash trees growing on public and private property that should be treated to prevent EAB from spreading and to protect the community's tree canopy.
The City has contracted with Rainbow Treecare to treat public ash trees growing along streets and in parks with a trunk injection program. To promote proper EAB treatment on private property, and encourage residents to treat healthy ash trees, a citywide group discount is available through 2020 for Eden Prairie property owners to treat ash trees at least 10 inches in diameter and in good physical condition.
