Thanks to the Minnesota Astronomical Society, Eden Prairie is home to a 9-foot tall, 16-inch Cassegrain telescope, one of the largest in the state of Minnesota!
After accepting the telescope as a gift in 2006, the City designed the observatory building to house it. The City was able to move forward with the project after a generous contribution from Doug and Carolyn Kohrs of Edina and other donors from the Eden Prairie community.
Mike Lynch from WCCO Radio is our new lead astronomer. Mike has more than 30 years of experience teaching astronomy. In addition to the observatory's massive telescope, he will provide several more extremely large scopes to help groups of participants explore the night sky.
