Thanks to the Minnesota Astronomical Society, Eden Prairie is home to a 9-foot tall, 16-inch Cassegrain telescope, one of the largest in the state of Minnesota!
After accepting the telescope as a gift in 2006, the City of Eden Prairie designed the observatory building to house it near the Outdoor Center on Staring Lake. The City was able to move forward with the project after a generous contribution from Doug and Carolyn Kohrs of Edina and other donors from the Eden Prairie community.
