Eden Prairie, Minn. — MONEY magazine’s 2012 list of the 100 “Best Places to Live” in America was announced today and Eden Prairie, Minn. is ranked #3.

“After being named the #1 Best Place to Live in America in 2010, we’re delighted the great City of Carmel, Ind. now has the opportunity to shine in the spotlight where we’ve stood for two years,” said Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens. “We are truly honored to be recognized once again among the top 10 cities on the list.”

Minnesota cities are consistently ranked highly, which Tyra-Lukens attributes to the exceptional quality of life throughout the state. The other Minnesota cities listed among the top 25 on MONEY’s list include Woodbury, Eagan, Lakeville and Maple Grove.

“While it’s gratifying that Eden Prairie is recognized by others as a great place to live, it’s more important to me what our community thinks about the quality of life in Eden Prairie,” said Tyra-Lukens. “We are very fortunate to have outstanding schools, a flourishing businesses community and wonderful people. No matter how we’re ranked by others, in my opinion, Eden Prairie will always be the best place to live in America.”

Every two years, the editors of MONEY magazine start with a full list of cities with populations of 50,000 to 300,000. After several months spent researching economics and quality of life, the list is narrowed to a group of finalists, which are visited by MONEY’s editorial team. These visits allow the reporters to interview residents, community leaders and local officials, while experiencing the cities first-hand, before compiling the final “Best Places to Live” rankings.
