The City of Eden Prairie utilizes a Geographic Information System (GIS) to provide mapping services, spatial data maintenance and geographical analysis to all areas of the City and to the public. The City’s GIS consists of more than 50 data layers maintained and developed within the Information Technology Division, in collaboration with other City departments, and made available to the public through customized static and online interactive maps, and in-house desktop and server software applications that comprise an enterprise GIS system. The City’s GIS system provides the tools, technology and data management necessary to provide cost-effective mapping services to the public.
