Every member of the Eden Prairie Fire Department is eligible for membership in the Eden Prairie Fire Department Relief Association. Being a member of the Relief Association entitles firefighters to retirement benefits after a minimum of ten years service.
Below is a brief summary of the retirement benefits:
- 10 years of service: $500 per month or $50,000 lump sum.
- 15 years of service: $750 per month or $75,000 lump sum.
- 20 years of service: $1000 per month or $100,000 lump sum.
If eligible retirement benefits can start no earlier than 50 years of age. Other benefits include disability benefits and survivor benefits for spouse and family.
