Please read the description carefully as the rebate program for 2010 has changed.

PLEASE NOTE: FUNDS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASES MADE IN 2010 OR PREVIOUS  YEARS.

Starting in 2010, the City is offering rebates for a portion of the purchase of Energy Star washing machines, WaterSense toilets and WaterSense faucets.  Each purchase must be labeled as qualifying under these programs. The rebate is $100 for Energy Star washers, $50 for WaterSense toilets and $25 for WaterSense faucets (up to the cost of the appliance or toilet).

Washing machines must have the Energy Star label to qualify for the rebate.  The Energy Star program was started by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to encourage energy conservation in the manufacture and use of appliances. By replacing your old washer with an Energy Star qualified model, a family of 4 can save enough water to fill three backyard swimming pools. If your old washer is more than 10 years old, this could save your family up to $135 in energy costs per year! Qualified models are typically front loading models, although there are top-loading models that have been redesigned to cut down on water usage to qualify. Most do not have a central agitator.

Toilets must have the WaterSense label on both the tank and bowl to qualify for the rebate. WaterSense toilets use 20% less water than the current federal standard. By replacing an older toilet with a WaterSense model, an individual can save up to 4,000 gallons of water per year! To qualify for the WaterSense label the toilet must undergo testing by an independent laboratory to show that they meet the rigorous criteria for both performance and efficiency set by the program. Whether remodeling a bathroom or simply replacing an old, leaky toilet that is wasting money and water, installing a WaterSense toilet is a high-performance, water-efficient option.

Faucets must be carry the WaterSense label to qualify for the rebate.  WaterSense faucets can reduce a sink's water flow by 30 percent or more without sacrificing performance. By installing a WaterSense faucet, an average household can save more than 500 gallons each year. Also, since these water savings will reduce demands on water heaters, households will also save energy. All products bearing the WaterSense label must complete a third-party certification process that includes independent laboratory testing to ensure they meet EPA criteria. Please note, the rebate is only for faucets, faucet accessories do not qualify for the rebate.

The appliance must have been purchased in the current calendar year.

The receipt or other information provided with the application must clearly identify the model, date of purchase and the label for the Energy Star or WaterSense program. For toilet purchases, both the tank and bowl must have the WaterSense label.

Rebate funds are limited. Applications are processed in order of receipt.
