Eden Prairie #2 Among MONEY Magazine's Best Places to Live
MONEY magazine’s 2016 list of the 50 “Best Places to Live” was announced today and Eden Prairie is ranked #2.
“Eden Prairie has now occupied the top three spots on the Best Places to Live list and this is the fourth time the City has been included in the top 10 since 2006,” said City Manager Rick Getschow. “We are delighted for our residents and businesses to be honored once again.”
Minnesota cities are consistently ranked highly due to the state’s excellent quality of life, with the City of Woodbury being ranked #11 for 2016. Getschow noted that beginning in 2014, MONEY has limited the list to no more than four cities per state and one per county to correct for geographical biases, which explains why there are not more Minnesota cities recognized.
“We are very fortunate in Eden Prairie to have outstanding schools, a flourishing economy and an an engaged community of people,” said Getschow. “While it’s always exciting when Eden Prairie appears on various lists recognizing the exceptional quality of life we enjoy, it’s especially meaningful for those who live and work here to feel the same way.”
Every two years, the editors of MONEY magazine start with a full list of cities with populations of 50,000 to 300,000. After several months spent researching economics and quality of life, the list is narrowed to a group of finalists, which are visited by MONEY’s editorial team. These visits allow the reporters to interview residents, community leaders and local officials, while experiencing the cities first-hand, before compiling the final “Best Places to Live” rankings.
