Help Manage EAB in Eden Prairie

Citywide group discount to treat healthy ash trees for Emerald Ash Borer through Rainbow Treecare available.
Post Date:May 11, 2018

Ash TreeSince Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) was confirmed in Minnesota in 2009, the City of Eden Prairie has been participating in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) early detection program to help slow the spread of the insect.

EAB was first discovered in northeast Eden Prairie in April 2017. Like most Minnesota cities, Eden Prairie has an abundance of ash trees growing on public and private property that should be treated to prevent EAB from spreading and to protect the community's tree canopy.

The City has contracted with Rainbow Treecare to treat public ash trees growing along streets and in parks with a trunk injection program. To promote proper EAB treatment on private property, and encourage residents to treat healthy ash trees, a citywide group discount is available through 2020 for Eden Prairie property owners to treat ash trees at least 10 inches in diameter and in good physical condition.
