City of Eden PrairieHennepin County Citizen Advisory Board Vacancies
The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is recruiting volunteers for 28 citizen advisory board positions through its annual open appointment process. Each fall the board appoints residents to volunteer service positions on advisory boards, commissions, councils and special task forces. Appointees advise commissioners and help set policy on a variety of topics.

Apply by Dec. 31, 2018, at hennepin.us/advisoryboards. The board will conduct interviews beginning January 2019.

2018 Sustainable Eden Prairie Awards
At the Nov. 13 City Council meeting, the City of Eden Prairie recognized four Sustainable Eden Prairie Award winners. The award recognizes significant innovative investments that contribute to the overall vitality and sustainability of the community. Nomination categories reflect the initiative's focus areas: energy, landscape, waste and water. Learn more about this year's award winners.

Solid Waste Management Plan
As part of the Sustainable Eden Prairie initiative, the City is planning for the future management of solid waste, organics and recycling. Based on feedback provided by residents, business owners and local waste haulers, the City has developed a draft 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan. The plan includes goals and strategies for education, organics recycling, traditional curbside recycling, yard waste management, drop-off events, multi-family recycling and solid waste collection.

The draft plan is available for public review and comments through Nov. 30, and will be adopted in December. For more information and to provide feedback, visit edenprairie.org/SolidWaste.

"Stepping Up in a Time of Need" is the latest installment of the Real Talk with Rick podcast. Eden Prairie Community Foundation Executive Director Mark Weber talks about the Foundation's inception, acting as a grant maker, giving back to the community, building a strong endowment fund and three Foundation-related projects in Purgatory Creek Park.
