A Hat Trick of Hat Tricks

Post Date:February 07, 2019

Officer Chad Streiff receiving the Department of Public Safety's Hat Trick award 2-7-19This afternoon Officer Chad Streiff received the Hat Trick Award from Bill Hammes from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) for making three DWI arrests during his shift on Dec. 14, 2018. This is Officer Streiff’s third Hat Trick Award. His previous awards came from arrests he made during his shifts on August 26 and March 17.

Arresting and processing someone for DWI is a time-consuming process. The booking process associated with a DWI arrest requires a great deal of patience and attention to detail. After the arrest, officers must also complete reports and in some cases, attend court.

We are proud of the work that Officer Streiff, and all of officers, do to take impaired drivers off our roadways. You can help our officers by calling 911 if you observe a driver that you believe is impaired. Be prepared to provide as much detail as possible including the license plate number, vehicle description and direction of travel.
