Carry the Torch and Support Special Olympics!
City employees and their families are invited to help carry the torch!
On Friday, June 21, you'll join members of the Eden Prairie Police Department as they carry the torch in the The Law Enforcement Torch Run through Eden Prairie, with a full police escort. The event raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Minnesota.
You can run, walk, bike or inline skate the approximate 3-mile path through Eden Prairie. We meet at the City Center and will provide a ride to and from the event. The torch will eventually end up at the University of St. Thomas for opening ceremonies.
Cost is $20 per person (includes a hat or T-shirt). Shirts and hats will be delivered in time to wear for the event. To sign up, contact EPPD Sgt. Tom Lowery at 952-949-6248. Registration deadline is 8 a.m. Monday, June 10.
Participants must sign a waiver. City employees will need permission from their supervisors if on-duty. After registering, you will receive an email a few days before the event with more specific information.
If you can't participate in the torch run, there are other ways to support Special Olympics Minnesota:
- The EPPD has volunteer opportunities such as shuttle vehicle drivers and photographers.
- You can buy a T-shirt or hat! The shirt sizes run small to 3X. Hat Sizes are one-size-fits-all and adjustable.
