Aquatics Center Named for Former Mayor

Nancy Tyra-Lukens Aquatics Center Dedication

The aquatics facility at the Eden Prairie Community Center was dedicated as the Nancy Tyra-Lukens Aquatics Center Tuesday, June 18.

The dedication ceremony was followed by an official City Council proclamation which cited former Mayor Tyra-Lukens' passion for health and wellness, and her leadership and vision that helped bring the Aquatics Center project to fruition.

A new plaque inside the aquatics facility reads:

Nancy Tyra-Lukens served her fellow Eden Prairie residents on the City Council for two decades, including 13 years as Mayor. The results of her outstanding leadership and vision are woven into the fabric of our community in a multitude of ways, and will benefit many generations to come.

Nancy’s passion for health and wellness, and her unwavering belief in the importance of enriching the lives of all Eden Prairie residents, was consistently demonstrated in her support and enthusiasm for parks, programs and recreation facilities. This Aquatics Center was planned, constructed and opened during her time as Mayor.
