Two More Hat Tricks
Last night EPPD Officer Chad Streiff received two Hat Trick Awards from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for making three DWI arrests during his shifts on May 23 and June 2. These are Officer Streiff’s fourth and fifth Hat Trick Awards. His previous awards came from arrests he made last year during his shifts on Dec. 18, Aug. 26 and March 17. The award for achieving a Hat Trick is a hockey stick personalized with the officer’s name, badge number and department.
Arresting and processing someone for DWI is a time-consuming process. The booking process associated with a DWI arrest requires a great deal of patience and attention to detail. After the arrest, officers must also complete reports and in some cases, attend court.
We are proud of the work that Officer Streiff, and all of our officers, do to take impaired drivers off our roadways. You can help our officers by calling 911 if you observe a driver that you believe is impaired. Be prepared to provide as much detail as possible including the license plate number, vehicle description and direction of travel.
