Fall Parks and Recreation Registration Open
The Fall Parks and Recreation program guide was mailed to all Eden Prairie households and registration opened Wednesday, Aug. 14. Visit edenprairie.org/Register to sign up!
Night to Unite Recap
On Tuesday, Aug. 6 185 Eden Prairie neighborhoods hosted Night to Unite block parties to celebrate community and commitment to safety. This was an increase of 20 neighborhood parties from last year’s Night to Unite. During the event, residents donated 9,179 pounds of food, $80 in cash and $200 in gift cards to PROP. The winner of this year’s contest to collect the most food was the Round Lake Road neighborhood, which donated more than 542 pounds of food.
The 2nd annual PeopleFest! celebration took place Aug. 4–14. The featured event of community celebration of culture — the PeopleFest! Party on Aug. 11 — drew more than 700 people. Attendees enjoyed multicultural performances, food trucks, informational exhibits, hands-on art activities and more. A sincere thank you to everyone who came together to celebrate the diverse cultures and communities in our City.
Minnesota GreenStep Cities Award
At the Aug. 13 City Council meeting, the City of Eden Prairie was presented with the Step 5 Award for the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program. Eden Prairie is one of only 13 Minnesota cities to reach Step 5, which is the highest level of achievement in the program. WW II Documentary Screening at AMC
The Wings of the North Museum is hosting a screening of “Stalag Luft III — One Man’s Story” Friday, Aug. 23 at Eden Prairie Center’s AMC Theatre. The award-winning documentary by local filmmaker Louise Woehrle tells the story of her uncle, World War II U.S. Eighth Air Force Bombardier Lt. Charles Woehrle. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Click here to buy tickets.
Amanda Pellowski recently joined Community Development as an administrative assistant. Before joining the City, she worked at Target Corporation for 17 years. Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Northern Iowa.
In addition, Mandy Zimmermann joined the Human Resources Division as a human resources generalist, focusing on risk and safety. Before joining the City, Mandy worked as a human resources manager at Dealer Teamwork LLC of Eden Prairie and senior human resources generalist at Opportunity Partners in Minnetonka. Mandy earned a bachelor's degree in human resource administration with a minor in business administration from Minnesota State University-Mankato.
