Sept. 6, 2019 Friday Report
Student Commissioner Orientation
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, the City held an orientation for participants in the Students on Commissions program. These 22 students living in Eden Prairie will serve terms running from September through next May on the following commissions:
- Flying Cloud Airport Advisory
- Heritage Preservation
- Human Rights and Diversity
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources
We look forward to having these students in the program. Students who are juniors and seniors next school year are encouraged to apply when the process begins again at the end of the 2019-20 school year.
Arts in the Park
The 2019 Arts in the Park event—originally scheduled for Saturday, May 18, but cancelled due to weather—is rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at Purgatory Creek Park. In addition to artwork for sale by local and regional artists, there will be live entertainment, lawn games, activities and food.
The Eden Prairie Community Foundation will hold its 6th annual Prairie Brewfest tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 7, from 3–6 p.m. at Purgatory Creek Park. Tickets are $30 in advance, or $35 at the event. They can be purchased online through the Community Foundation website. You must be 21 or older to attend. Proceeds from the event help the foundation fund projects that assist individuals and families living in poverty, help seniors and individuals living with disabilities, strengthen community services, and provide scholarships and access to after-school programs for local youth.
Car Seat Clinic
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Eden Prairie Police Department will offer a free car seat clinic from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at Fire Station 1 located at 14800 Scenic Heights Road. Participants should bring their child's car seat, car seat manual and child to the clinic. Those unable to attend who would like to learn more about car seat safety may call (952) 949-6200 to schedule an appointment with our certified technicians.
