Ash Tree Marking Begins Sept. 23

Post Date:09/20/2019

As part of Eden Prairie’s emerald ash borer (EAB) management plan, the City is removing a portion of ash trees in areas with active EAB infestations and high ash populations, and individual ash trees not suitable for treatment.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, parks and natural resources staff are marking ash trees designated for removal on City property and in the right of way (ROW) with an orange ring. The ROW is anywhere between 11 feet to 24 feet behind the street curb and the City is responsible for trees within this area. Individual property owners with trees marked for removal have are being notified in writing.

Tree removals generally occur between November and March. Approximately 275 ash trees are designated for removal this year, and 400 trees are being planted next year.
