Eden Prairie Police Investigating Validity of Recent Robbery Reports
Since Aug. 20, Eden Prairie Police have responded to two armed robberies that reportedly occurred along Anderson Lakes Parkway near Neill Lake Road. On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 8, a third armed robbery reportedly occurred in the area of Columbine Road and Prairie Center Drive.
Investigators working diligently on these cases have discovered a number of similarities with each incident, as well as several inconsistencies in the victim statements, which call into question the validity of the reports. Detectives also noted in each case, the victims reported their Mexican or Ecuadorian passports, or consular identification cards (CID) stolen.
Eden Prairie Police are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. The Department deployed additional measures for several weeks following the reports, in the area where the crimes reportedly took place, including:
- Placement of a mobile camera trailer along Anderson Lakes Parkway
- Surveillance along walking trails and paths
- Increased patrols by officers
No suspicious activity was observed.
Anyone with information related to these cases should call Eden Prairie Police at 952-949-6200. It is important to note, falsely reporting a crime or knowingly providing false information to a police officer in the state of Minnesota is a misdemeanor offense.
Because these incidents are under active investigation, no further information is available.
