Nov. 8, 2019 Friday Report
Ash Tree Removal
As part of Eden Prairie’s ongoing emerald ash borer (EAB) management plan, the City is removing a portion of ash trees in parks and the right-of-way (ROW). The ROW is anywhere between 11 feet to 24 feet behind the street curb; the City is responsible for trees within this area. Trees were marked this fall by parks and natural resources staff, and individual property owners were notified in writing.
Tree removals generally occur between November and March. New trees representing a diverse pallet of species are being planted at one-and-a half times the rate of removal. Approximately half of all ash trees on maintained City property are being treated by a private contractor.
Preserve Boulevard Improvement Project
The Preserve Boulevard Improvement Project is nearing completion, and all lanes are opening to traffic later this month. Weather is a major factor in completing the final steps, and some lesser priority items will be finished in the spring. For all project updates, visit edenprairie.org/InfrastructureProjects.
Hennepin County Discontinued Battery Collection
Hennepin County has discontinued collecting batteries in bins at all City buildings, libraries, county facilities and other community locations due to the fire hazards they pose. Batteries will continue to be collected at the County's drop-off facilities in Bloomington and Brooklyn Park.
City Center Closed
The City Center is closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
