Feb. 21, 2020 Friday Report
Three Rivers Parks District will make improvements at Bryant Lake Regional Park, which include replacing the existing boat ramp with a new one, parking lot updates including ADA accessibility improvements, a new decontamination area for watercraft, and stormwater management facilities. These improvements are proposed within areas where parking and other park facilities already exist. The City will evaluate these improvements through administrative review of a land alteration permit. Work within the various parking lots, disc golf area and trails adjacent to Rowland Road will be ongoing throughout the summer.

On Monday, Feb. 24, the Planning Commission will conduct two public hearings. An application will be considered for a 130,000-square-foot industrial building in the Golden Triangle. This proposal by Opus calls for a Planned Unit Development (PUD) concept review and district review on 10.258 acres, zoning district change from Rural to Industrial I-2, Site Plan review, and a preliminary plat of one lot and one outlot.
The Planning Commission will also consider an application for The Overlook, a subdivision consisting of 59 single family lots and 4 outlots at 9955 Spring Road. The proposal by Gonyea Homes, Inc. calls for a PUD concept review and district review on 27.51 acres, Zoning District Change from Rural to R1-9.5, and a preliminary plat of 3 parcels into 59 lots and 4 outlots.
Human Rights Award
The City is accepting nominations for the annual Human Rights Award, which recognizes inspiring efforts that work to promote human rights and diversity, and to create an inclusive community spirit. Individuals who know of a deserving person, youth, non-profit organization or business are encouraged to visit edenprairie.org/HumanRightsAward for more details about the program and a link to the online nomination form. Nominations are due Friday, Feb. 28.
The deadline for submitting applications to be placed on a City Board or Commission has passed. We are pleased to report that we have received a large number of applications. The City Council interviews for potential Board and Commission members will take place Monday, March 2 in the City Center Heritage Rooms.
City Government Academy
Eden Prairie's City Government Academy is a free, six-week program offering Eden Prairie residents a behind-the-scenes look at how their city operates. Beginning Wednesday, April 22, a different department is spotlighted each week to give participants a chance to tour City facilities, meet City staff and learn more about municipal government. Residents are encouraged to learn more and apply online at edenprairie.org/EPCityAcademy. Application deadline is Friday, March 6.
Eden Prairie Players: The Curious Savage
Eden Prairie Players will perform "The Curious Savage," a warm-hearted comedy about Ethel P. Savage who is left a substantial fortune. Performances begin Friday, March 13, from 7–9 p.m. at the Performing Institute of Minnesota Arts High School (7255 Flying Cloud Drive).
