We begin the month of May with news that the statewide stay-at-home order is extended until Monday, May 18.

When announcing this yesterday, Governor Walz also said the state has made progress in preparing for the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic due to the diligence of Minnesotans staying home and taking other precautionary measures, which has slowed the rate of infection. Testing and contact-tracing are a key focus for our state as well, and there is a new website to help Minnesotans find COVID-19 testing locations within their communities —

Like you, I am longing for a sense of normalcy and familiar routines. But we cannot risk losing ground on the progress that has been made and unnecessarily put the lives of many at risk. We are all making sacrifices for the greater good, and while that may be inconvenient right now, I think someday we’ll look back on these times with pride, knowing we did everything we could to make a difference and save lives. I thank each and every one of you for your continued resolve and perseverance.

I am greatly moved by the generosity I’ve witnessed in our community over the past several weeks. Financial donations to the Eden Prairie Community Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund, thousands of cloth masks created and distributed to those who need them, and a multitude of take-out orders placed to help keep our Eden Prairie restaurants afloat. Many donations of food and money to Eden Prairie PROP have also been made. But given the prolonged nature of this public health crisis, PROP and those they serve need our help now more than ever. I encourage all who can to help support PROP’s mission to feed, nourish and strengthen our community. To learn more visit

#InThisTogether Yard SignBeginning Saturday, May 2, there’s a great new way to support PROP and help remind our entire community that we’re #InThisTogether. Pick up a yard sign for $10 at Eden Prairie Liquor (near Cub Foods or Kowalski’s Market) and $3 from every sign purchased will help feed hungry families in our community! Remember to bring a credit card for payment, and practice safe physical distancing while you shop. I can’t wait to see these signs on display all around Eden Prairie as a reminder of how much we’ve come together during this time, especially to help our neighbors in need.

Please continue to reach out to me and other City Council members with your concerns, comments and suggestions. We want to hear from you and can only help if you ask for it. I wish you and your families to be safe, healthy and compassionate as we stay the course in these unprecedented times.

We truly are all #InThisTogether, Eden Prairie!

Take care,
