City Named Top 150 Workplace
For the seventh year in a row, the City has been named one of the Top 150 Workplaces in Minnesota by the Star Tribune. The Star Tribune Top 150 Workplaces rankings are based on survey information collected by Energage, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention. The program included responses from more than 76,000 employees at nearly 3,000 Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations. The City is ranked #45 on the list of midsize employers. #ChalkYourWalk Contest Voting
Over the past weeks, hundreds of Eden Prairie residents participated in the City's first-ever 4th of July Hometown Celebration Chalk Your Walk Contest. A jury of City employees selected the finalists in each category and voting is open through 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 by visiting Facebook.com/CityOfEdenPrairie. The entry with the most "likes" in each category will receive a pizza party compliments of Red's Savoy Pizza and delivered by the Eden Prairie Fire Department July 3.
State Primary Early Voting Begins Today
All eligible Eden Prairie residents can now begin voting for the Aug. 11 State Primary Election. To vote early by mail, voters must complete an online application to receive an absentee ballot. Student Commission Members Appointed
The City Council appointed 25 high school students to serve on City commissions at its June 16 meeting. The Students on Commissions program is a great way for students to contribute to their community in an official capacity, while gaining valuable insight about municipal government. High school juniors and seniors who live in Eden Prairie are welcome to apply.
Discounted EAB Treatments Available
The City's emerald ash borer (EAB) management plan includes promoting proper management of ash trees on private property. This includes treating trees at least 10 inches in diameter and in good physical condition. Discounted EAB treatment rates form Rainbow Treecare are available to residents through 2020. Free Summer Entertainment Begins July 7
Summer entertainment at Staring Lake Amphitheatre kicks off Tuesday, July 7 with a KidStock performance by Kidsdance, followed by a Starring at Staring performance by Lehto & Wright Thursday, July 9. Movies in the Park are scheduled for Aug. 7, 14 and 21. Limited seating is available for all summer entertainment. Find details at edenprairie.org/Calendar.
New July-August Parks and Recreation Programs
New youth and family summer programs are now available at edenprairie.org/Register. Programs have been designed with shorter time frames and class sizes to allow for physical distancing.
Jerad Payne recently started as a fleet services mechanic. Before joining the City, Jerad worked for Carver County. He attended Universal Technical Institute for diesel industrial.
The City Center is closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
