City Receives Workplace Well-being Award
The City of Eden Prairie was one of three Minnesota employers to be awarded a 2014 Workplace Well-being Award at the Minnesota Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) conference this week.
Eden Prairie was selected as the winner for the mid-size business category and recognized for its efforts to promote health and well-being within the workforce.
The “Live Well, Our Choice" program provides opportunities for employees with varied work schedules to participate in activities of interest and encourages them to share personal stories with one another for inspiration.
“We’re extremely proud of this award and the level of participation we’ve accomplished with our wellness programs,” said City Manager Rick Getschow. “In 2013, more than 75 percent of City employees completed a health assessment and more than half participated in a biometric screening.”
The City offers the following health and wellness opportunities for employees:
- Seasonal weekly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) participation
- On-site fitness classes during lunch hour
- Standing work stations
- On-site Weight Watchers sessions
A total of 38 organizations were nominated for the Workplace Well-being Award. Each nomination was evaluated based on specific criteria, with a “best in class” workplace selected for each category.
Sponsored by HealthPartners, the Workplace Well-being Award is in its fourth year and was established to recognize leaders in employer-based health and well-being programs in Minnesota.
