Choose the Eden Prairie Art Center for your child’s next birthday party!

An art instructor and assistant leads your guests through a 2-hour party designed for children ages 5–12. The party begins with 90 minutes of programming followed by 30 minutes of parent-led time in your private party room for serving cake, treats and/or opening presents. Each participating guest receives a reusable cup party favor. Party favor and paper product packages are also available for an additional fee.

Party Theme Options

Ages 5 and Older

Appropriate for guests 5 years and older; adjusted as needed based on the ages of the group.

  • Clay Sculptures*
    Create a unique creature out of clay. With guided instructions from an Art Center teaching artist, guests learn to build a basic pinch pot and use extra clay and their newly gained skills to transform it into a one-of-a-kind creature or animal.
  • Clay Tiles*
    Clay tiles can be used as decoration, a gift, a cool marker for a garden and more. Guests learn to design and make their own unique tile using texture, shape and color.
  • Mask Making
    Create your very own one-of-a-kind mask for a spectacular celebration. Guests use a mask mold as the foundation for all kinds of decorations such as feathers, beads, sequins, tissue paper, glitter, stickers and more. Arrive as a birthday party visitor and leave as a superhero, majestic animal, alien invader- whatever your imagination comes up with!
  • Puppet Creation
    Explore creativity, play, stories and silly characters through the art of puppet making. With guided instructions from an Art Center teaching artist, guests learn to craft their very own puppet from paper or fabric. Materials provided are based on the age of the group so everyone can leave with a fun puppet friend.
Ages 8 and Older

Appropriate for guests 8 years and older; adjusted as needed but cannot be chosen for parties with children under the age of 8.

  • Art Books
    Aren’t stories you make up always the best? Become an author and illustrator with this fun party offering. Guests learn how to bind their own book and have the freedom to write their own unique story, add pictures or both!
  • Cards/Stationary
    People love receiving handmade cards and letters rather than those bought at the store. Create one-of-a-kind cards or stationary for any occasion in this fun project offering. Guests use quality art supplies and techniques such as painting, drawing and collage to create gorgeous keepsakes to send to family, friends or that special teacher.
  • Clay Pots*
    Learn the ancient technique of rolling coils to create a beautiful clay pot. With guidance from an Art Center teaching artist, guests build their own pot by hand and then add colors to truly make it pop.
  • Painting on Canvas
    Join us for the opportunity to create your very own masterpiece. Guests explore with paint on canvas board and receive guided instructions from an Art Center teaching artist. If you’d like to have a theme for the painting extravaganza, let us know. Examples of themes used before are landscape, abstract selfies, animals, shapes and color.
Ages 10 and Older

Appropriate for guests 10 years and older; adjusted as needed but cannot be chosen for parties with children under the age of 10.

  • Clay Masks*
    Take mask making to a whole new level. With guidance from an Art Center teaching artist, guests learn to form clay over a mold and enhance with texture, more clay for added depth and detail and colored glazes.
  • Fused Glass*
    Step into the beautiful world of glass in this fun and fast-paced project offering. Guests learn how to assemble various glass pieces to produce a colorful 5-by-5 inch tile with their own unique style.
  • Jewelry Making
    What better way to celebrate than by making one-of-a-kind jewelry? With guided instruction from an Art Center teaching artist, guests learn to craft their very own jewelry from yarn/thread, wire or felt. Materials provided are based on the age of the group so everyone leaves with a handmade piece of wearable jewelry.
  • Make Your Own Board Game
    Is game night your favorite? Then this offering is for you. Guests brainstorm a unique game of their own or recreate one in their own style using board, paint, markers or other fun materials. The only limit is your imagination!
  • Printmaking
    Jump into the exciting world of printmaking to create a special card for the birthday host or to give to friends and family. Guests learn how to use textured, everyday objects or an EZ Cut printing block and ink to produce one-of-a-kind cards for any occasion.
  • Clay Slab Project*
    Discover the beauty and accessibility of clay slab in this fun project offering. Guests use the Art Center’s ceramic slab roller to create a flat surface that can be cut into a unique shape. Then add texture, use pottery techniques like scratching and slipping and add gorgeous color glazes to finish a piece of ceramic art.

Cost
Up to 10 children, $165. Each additional guest adds $10, up to 15 guests maximum.

A $25 surcharge is added if the booking family does not live or work in Eden Prairie.

Fridays, 6–9 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Additional hours may be available upon request.

A variety of birthday party options are also available at the Community Center and the Outdoor Center.


* Denotes projects that are clay or glass based, which are priced at $185 for up to 10 guests, $12 for each additional guest up to 15 maximum. In addition, clay and glass based projects must be left at the Art Center after the party to be fired and may be ready within 2-3 weeks for pickup. Art Center staff will notify party host’s primary household member email and phone when projects are ready for pickup.
