Residents of all ages are invited to join in the fun and submit banner designs evoking the spirit of our community!

 


Contest Calendar

May 17            Initial submission deadline closes
May 21            Finalists selected and online voting opens
May 31            Voting closes at midnight
June 7             Winners announced
July 2019       Banners installed

Contest Judging

  • Entries will be juried and finalists chosen by a panel of City staff
  • Public voting will take place online
  • Winning banner designs will be displayed on light poles throughout Eden Prairie

Design Considerations

  • You may submit up to three designs as part of a series
  • Consider a way to convey the spirit of the Eden Prairie community
  • Include at least one color, limit white space and keep extremely light colors minimal
  • Bold shapes tend to be more visible from a distance than fine detail elements
  • If used, text should be minimal and at least 4 inches high
  • Do not feature portraits or photographs of identifiable individuals
  • Use good taste and consider people of all ages viewing the banners
  • Do not use the City of Eden Prairie logo or branding
  • You can, but do not need to, use the City name

Fine Print

  • All Eden Prairie residents are eligible, parental consent required if under 18
  • Winning artwork becomes property of the City
  • The City reserves the right to alter artwork as needed to produce banners
  • Banner artwork may be used in other City promotional materials
  • Winning artist will receive no monetary compensation

Design Technical Specs

  • Artwork should be designed to fit a banner 30" wide by 60" tall
  • Artwork must be created at 300 dpi at 100% actual size
  • Entries must be submitted in digital format (high resolution PDF, TIFF or JPEG)
  • Note placement of stitching and grommets (on either side) so they don’t interfere with design
