We already have other plans, what will happen to those?
Existing plans are an important part of the Comprehensive Plan process. These Plans will inform Aspire Eden Prairie 2040, and in some cases will be incorporated into the plan if the goals and vision are still consistent with the community’s current aspirations.
What are the contents of a comprehensive plan?
A Comprehensive Plan outlines the existing conditions of the City, describes future goals and objectives, and includes an action plan on how to achieve these goals and objectives. Aspire Eden Prairie 2040 will also include plans addressing land use, transportation, housing, parks and trails, water resources, resilience and economic competitiveness. In addition, Aspire Eden Prairie 2040 will include detailed sub-area plans for key locations in the community.
What is a comprehensive plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a blueprint for the future. It is a community vision that is intended to guide the City for the next 20 years, which will include policies that direct future growth and development. The process for creating a comprehensive plan can lead to potential strategies that will help effectively guide City leaders with making substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community.
When will Aspire Eden Prairie 2040 start and when will it be completed?
The initial phases of plan development have begun. The final City Council-approved plan will be submitted to the Metropolitan Council by Dec. 31, 2018.
Who is involved in creating Aspire Eden Prairie 2040?
As the guide for the City, it is critical that Eden Prairie’s residents and stakeholders are involved in the development of the Comprehensive Plan. The City is committed to involving residents, businesses and other stakeholders in the process. Ultimately, Aspire Eden Prairie 2040 will be approved by the City’s Planning Commission and City Council.
