Public Safety Open House

Demo of a burning car

The Public Safety Open House is an annual event in October that allows residents of Eden Prairie to get an up-close and personal look at how the Fire, Police and Public Works departments serve their community.

Several thousand people attend the free Open House each year, to watch demonstrations, visit information-packed booths, collect giveaway items, climb on the equipment and enjoy the refreshments.

Some of the highlights you might see include:

  • The Fire Department demonstrating a car fire
  • A vehicle extrication
  • Police K-9 demonstrations
  • The Police Department's Emergency Response Unit
  • Eden Prairie’s Crime Scene Tech Unit
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection program
  • Children's programs, including a chance to meet McGruff, the Crime Dog
