Summer is typically “prime time” for day camps, lessons and events, filling our community’s parks and recreational facilities with lots of activity and fun.
Eden Prairie’s Parks and Recreation Department gears up for summer all year, and our staff members always look forward to offering opportunities for exploration, skill-building, creativity and connections for the youth of our community. This year, we are faced with the challenge of how to deliver summer programs and events during a public health crisis. The world has changed and we know summer in Eden Prairie will look very different this year. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to the health and safety of our community, and communicating where things stand:
- All recreational programming and events are suspended until further notice.
- Staff members are monitoring the situation daily and will make plans in accordance with standards set by public health officials.
- If you are currently registered for a summer program, you will be contacted via email about the program’s status at least 30 days before the scheduled start date.
- If we are unable to offer summer programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, full refunds will be automatically issued for those who have already registered.
- In addition, you may choose to cancel your registration at any time up to 7 days prior to the start of the program for a full refund.
To cancel a registration and request a refund, email Parks@edenprairie.org and include the registration details.
Please continue to monitor edenprairie.org/Coronavirus for up-to-date information and resources, including a list of ways you can still enjoy our parks while maintaining appropriate physical distancing to help slow the spread of coronavirus. We’re all in this together and hope to see everyone soon!
The Parks and Recreation Department is monitoring the situation daily, and will plan and deliver summer programs and events in accordance with public health guidance. For any program that is canceled due to COVID-19, customers will be issued a full refund.
Families in need of fee assistance in order to participate are encouraged to apply through the Passport to Fun program.
The City of Eden Prairie is committed to providing reasonable accommodations and accessibility to participants. If you need support due to a disability, contact Nicole Weedman at 952-949-8456 (TTY: 952-949-8399 for the hearing and speech impaired) at least three weeks before the program begins.
For summer camps, the request should be made by May 15.
Registration deadlines are established for each program to help provide a positive experience for program participants by ensuring appropriate staffing, supplies and facilities to meet the registration needs. Please refer to program descriptions for each program’s registration deadline. If no registration deadline is listed, the deadline is seven days before the program begins.
At your request, your name can be placed on a wait list if a program is full. We call you if/when an opening occurs. You have 24 hours from the time the message was left to return our call and pay for the program in person. Otherwise, the next person on the wait list is contacted.
Transfers from one program to another are made on a space-available basis. An "even exchange" transfer before the registration deadline can be completed by calling the Community Center at 952-949-8470 or Senior Center at 952-279-8050. A transfer after the registration deadline is made at the discretion of the recreation supervisor. If approved, a $5 processing fee is applied. Transfers are not accepted within 24 hours of the start of a program.
Eden Prairie Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine programs, and change instructors. When classes with insufficient enrollment are canceled, payment is refunded or credited to your account. Participants are notified of program cancellations prior to the start of the program.
A full refund for a program is given if the participant cancels before the registration deadline. Refunds are issued by check (mailed within 15 working days), credited to your account or credited to your charge card. Refunds for program fees of $10 or less are credited to the participant’s account. If the participant cancels after the registration deadline, a refund is only issued if the space can be filled by another participant or with approval from the recreation supervisor. If that is the case, the refund amount, minus the $5 processing fee, is issued. No refunds are issued after the start of a program without approval from the recreation supervisor.
Photographs and video are periodically taken of participants while they are in programs, special events, City facilities or enjoying the parks. Please be aware that these photos may be published online or in print.
When a participant demonstrates consistent inappropriate behavior or has needs that transcend program expectations, staff identify the areas of concern or need and make an action plan to promote successful participation.
Participants are required to be picked up at the ending time. A $1-per-minute fee is assessed to late pickups (after a 10-minute grace period).
